Babywearing Info
What Is Babywearing?
The term “Babywearing” was coined by child development experts Dr. William and Martha Sears.
Babywearing is the ancient art of carrying your baby on your body without the use of your hands.
Essentially, your baby becomes a part of you (like when you were pregnant) and your carrier becomes a part of your wardrobe. It is customary in many cultures today, especially in Asia and Africa.
Why Wear Your Baby?
For Caregiver
- Convenience – no stroller to pack/unpack, both hands free
- Reduces postpartum depression & child abuse
- Easier to get work done
- Less sibling rivalry – both hands free to play with older children
- Breastfeed easily & discreetly
- Dual health benefits of walking & weight training
For Baby
- Less crying, More learning, Better growth
- Provides a safe & protective environment
- Maximizes brain development
- Helps with colic & reflux
- Protects from over-stimulation
- And more
