Cloth Diapering Basics, Care, and Tips
Cloth Diapering has never been easier! Whether you choose prefolds and covers, pockets, or all-in-one's, you'll find that these are nothing like pins and plastic pants. The pocket diapers and all-in-one's go on like a disposable and come off like a disposable. The only difference is that you toss them in the laundry instead of the trash.
Pins are a thing of the past. Now there is a great invention in the diaper world called a Snappi. The snappi has three grippy pieces that grab the diaper and hold it together. No chance of sticking the baby - or yourself! Stop by our store for a demonstration!

FAQ about cloth diapers:
Q. What do I do with them after they're dirty?
A. Just put them in your diaper pail! If there is any solid poop you can shake it into the toilet. No need to scrape or dunk... unless you really want to! Some people like to use flushable liners which can be lifted off the diaper and flushed. On laundry day, empty your diaper pail into the washing machine. Add your pail liner, inside out so it gets clean. You'll want to do a cold wash first, to remove stains, followed by a hot wash to clean and sanitize. I have a front loader, so I program the following wash setting: prewash-hot wash-rinse-extra rinse. If I smell ANYTHING when I open the washer door to take out the clean diapers, I run another quick wash with some vinegar or Bac-Out. This rarely happens, though. Usually I just put them all in the dryer on medium high heat and I'm done!
Q. Can you use cloth diapers overnight?
A. Absolutely! At night time you will probably want to use a booster or doubler for your diapers, terms which basically mean a liner or insert that adds absorbency. Some of our favorite diapers for nighttime:
Pockets: Rumparooz - the double gussets seem to help prevent leaks overnight. Drybees Nighttime Fleece - made for nighttime.
Fitteds: Tiny Tush one size fitted with an extra cotton doubler.
Prefolds: Two prefolds folded together works like a charm!
Covers: Anything with gussets, thick fleece covers, and wool.
